Background




Culinary India (CI), is a non profit initiative by Chef Gissur Gudmundsson, Former President of The World Association of Chefs Societies. IFCA Indian Federation of Culinary Associations has accorded its mandate for same for a five year journey.

Chef Manjit Gill, President of IFCA and Chef Gissur shared this vision all along their journey as culinary professionals.

CI has been founded to promte the Indian culinary hearitage and tourism by creating First Culinary Team of India.

The primary objective of this First Culinary Team of India is to represent India on global culinary map through international culinary competitions. The team would be encouraged to showcase and promote diverse Indian traditional and modern cuisines.


The Way Forward:



The need is to prepare The First Culinary Team for India´s maiden presence in the international culinary competitions which have been happening over a milenia.

CI has to ensure that the team has access to a world class culinary facility to learn, practice and be trained under world class chefs.

The Chefs who have culinary exposure and skill set to particpate and compete in International culinary competition as Team India would be encouraged to apply.


The Team:



For the next 5 years the team will train on regular base around India as well take part in different culinary competition inside of India and around the world.

It would have not been easy to find the Team Captain to spearhead the First Culinary Team of India, if Chef Sabyasachi Gorai would not have come forward to lead.

Many of the training sessions will be according to International Culinary guidelines and therefore the team must cook meal for up to 110 persons as a training, this will be open to public as well sponsors to attend. Our aim is also to bring the team to culinary schools around India to encourage you chefs to take part in culinary competitions.
